UNDATED (KDAL) – The Chamber of Marine Commerce says shipping activity for the U-S Great Lakes in 2023 remained consistent with the previous year through the end of November with about 32.6 million metric tons of commodities traveling the seaway system.
Duluth-Superior was among the ports seeing traffic gains for the year with an increase of 3.9 percent in total tonnage though the end of November.
The Duluth Seaway Port Authority completed a 56 thousand square foot warehouse expansion in September that increased Duluth Cargo Connect’s capacity to over 500 thousand square feet.
Shipping is expected to continue through the 15th of January when the Soo Locks close for the season
