CHERRY TOWNSHIP, MN (KDAL) – A 46 year old man from Chisholm was fatally injured Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on Highway 5 east of Hibbing.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department, the motorcycle was traveling northbound near the intersection with the Herman Road when it failed to navigate a turn, crossed the center line and crashed into a steep water filled ditch.
The driver was ejected from the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet.
Authorities believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
The victim has been identified as Shawn Harold Hage of Chisholm.
The incident remains under investigation.
